Well, here I am…it’s just after midnight, and once again I am up late. I am just such a night owl. But this is when I get most of my editing and such done…and it is just so nice and quiet.

For those who are “friends” with me on facebook, you may have already noticed by my statuses that I am super in love with my new lens Yesterday I bought one of my dream lenses, the 70-200mm f2.8……and so, here are my my first shots, taken of my beautiful daughter, Audrina.

I just couldn’t help it. I had to share these photos I took of my adorable daughter during the latest beautiful days we have had.

A tear or two actually formed in my eyes while I was going through these…I can’t believe how much she has grown, and how beautiful she is becoming. I don’t think anyone or anything can really prepare you for motherhood…it can be crazy, it can be difficult, it has it’s challenges…but my gosh, it can be BEAUTIFUL. Rewarding. Incredible. Emotional. Joyful. Miraculous….I think we get the point hehe.

The other day I stubbed my toe pretty bad…I bent down almost in tears [I can be a bit of a baby lol] and my little audrina came over to me, placed her hand on my shoulder, and with such a true, genuine look of concern in her eyes, she says “Mommy..?” she gets in closer to make better eye contact with me, “Oh no” and leans in for a the warmest hug. It is the best feeling when your baby starts to care, and give hugs and kisses on their own. Every little stage is so precious.

Today was a looong, but super fun day with a good friend of mine, Darcie. Every so often we make a girls day and go out and take some fun portraits of eachother. We had a blast, and couldn’t be happier that it didn’t rain!

seashells, ocean breeze and cool sand between my toes | mini getaway

For those close to me, they already know my love for the ocean. I have had an incredible desire for it since I was a little girl…watching my favorite shows/movies set on Prince Edward Island. There is just something peaceful about the endless waters, stretching out far beyond the eye can see. I could stand in my bare feet, with the tiny grains of sand and water rippling between my toes forever…staring out onto the open sea, feeling the breeze through my hair and forgetting all the worries in the world. There’s just that endless ocean, nothing but dreams before me…nothing but beauty, peace and serenity. And because I don’t get to see it often, the visits I do get are amazing.

This weekend was one of the most amazing I have had. It started with my little girl appearing on Breakfast Television, modeling toddler fashion (thanks to vancouvermom.ca). I am so proud of her- she did so well, even though she was the most rambunctious of the group, I’d have to say she was super entertaining

But that’s not all, our weekend was full of events, so busy and so wonderful! Later that afternoon, my husband and I then renewed our vows before God in a tiny, tiny ceremony (when I say tiny, I mean no guests, just he and I, the pastor and the photographers). It was held at THE most beautiful chapel in the Fraser Valley…White Album Wedding Chapel, and photographed by the two amazing photographers that own the chapel, who have grown to be great friends of mine. It was simply amazing. So meaningful. So beautiful.

We had a mini getaway after, a second honeymoon, I suppose! We went into Vancouver and I stayed in a very nice hotel for the night, and the next day we explored the city, and walked along the beach in Stanley Park, collected seashells, took a few photos, and just enjoyed our time together.

Just checking in to say Happy Easter to everyone!

I also just have to share these photos of my cute little girl during her very first Easter Egg Hunt. I wasn’t sure if she would show all that much interest…but amazingly she did, and she was right into it, searching for all the little eggs all around her! How could I not bring my camera along hehe…Easter dress and all.

While I was going through these photos and editing and such…I was reminded once again just how much I love photography. I cannot believe how much I love it, and how thankful I am for being able to do what I do. Memories.

There is just something about this next photo. It is just so her. I often look over at her, and she is off doing her own thing…I just see her back…and she is in deep concentration.

A Whole New Look!!

For the last week I have been hard at work at completely re-designing the look and feel of my business. I absolutely loved doing it because I love anything creative….but some parts of it were a bit of a long boring process haha! But totally worth it in the end. I wanted to go completely different. Step right out of the box I was in. I feel that this new look better conveys how I’d like the “feel” of my business to be: soft, romantic, warming…

I also spent hours, I mean HOURS looking for a new song for my website. This can be a difficult task, finding one you like, as well as making sure it is royalty free. I found it yesterday. And I was so excited about it. I’d heard this song before, and I never would have thought I could get the rights to use it on my website. What. A. Find. I tell ya…hehe.

Although there are still a couple last things I want to do for it all, I couldn’t wait to re-launch my whole new look! So here it is

When life was Simple

I woke up early in the morning- must have been around 7 O’Clock. The air was still cold and crispy- the furnace was still turned off from the night before. The house is quiet. Dark. Lonely. I make my way to the living room, find the trustee television- you remember when TV’s were made of that wood material- yeah that kind of TV
I turned on the TV, found my favorite early morning cartoon (which was most likely My Little Pony), grabbed my blanky, and stretched out on the couch, until the rest of the house woke up…

Ahhh….the joys of being 4 years old. Not a worry in the world! Life was so simple, no need to think about bills, work, school, maintaining the house or maintaining the car…completely stress-free!

Wouldn’t it be nice to be back at that age? Definately. But I wouldn’t. Because then I wouldn’t get to see my own little girl live through her own little adventures…life can be as stressful as it wants, because I still love every moment of it- my sweet little girl makes everything worth while…

Memories

Photo album. Such a simple, boring combination of words for such an important object in our lives. I mean, it’s not life or death important or anything like that, obviously- but when I look back at photos from 5,10,20,50-or 75 years ago, I am so thankful for having them. Being able to see my grandparents when they were babies, or even in their twenties is such a priceless thing. And looking back at all of my own baby’s “firsts” is just so special and so priceless. It’s no wonder I love to do what I do.

When I was little I would spend time at my grandparents…and a lot of my spare time was spent flipping through the pages of their many family photo albums…baby photos of myself, my brother, my mom…photos of their family trips before I was even thought about. Christmas Eves, Christmas mornings…family pets…you name it…all the memories are there in those photo albums.

But one of the most precious things to me about them now: Being able to look back at memories of my Grampa. He was and always will be my hero- and I miss him and love him so very much.

Enterprising Moms Network | Fraser Valley Photographer

My mom originally told me about this fabulous network of women. She had seen a segment about them on the news and thought it would be something good for me to look into. I rsvp’d for the first Fraser Valley chapter meeting and a few weeks later Eileen Fisher (Chapter director for the Fraser Valley) contacted me asking for the favour of me sponsering the event and taking a few candid shots! I of course loved the idea, and last night I attended my first meeting.
The Enterprising Moms Network is a network for Moms (although you do not need to be a mom to belong to the network, you do need to be a woman) that offers a place to learn, network, chat and get to know other women who are moms and also business women. The meetings are monthly throughout the year with a guest speaker at each meeting.
With chapters throughout BC, and one starting up in Toronto, as well as a sister network in Seattle…there is sure to be a network of women in your area.
Last night we had the pleasure of listening to Kristi Ferguson of Fraser Valley Pulse.

Stairway to Heaven?

Last night we went to Party in the Park in downtown Chilliwack. It is always such a nice evening out with the family Well…to be honest, last night wasn’t as good as the last time, but I am more than certian that was because everyone was feeling pretty tired. It was still a nice time though. I, of course had my camera along with me and was taking pictures of whatever caught my eye hehe. I captured many of my baby girl dancing away to the music…her little body groovin’ away, bending over backwards in awkward positions…she’s just too darn cute!
At the end of the night just before we were getting ready to leave and walk home…I caught what is to me, one of the most spectacular photos I have taken thus far (landscape wise)…

When I got home and loaded the images on my computer I was so proud of this one shot…does it not look like the stairway to heaven?

The “steps” are actually the roof of one of the buildings at the park…funny what a camera can do
